Standout performances in two major Mozart roles – Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte)
at English National Opera and Papageno (Die Zauberflote) at Glyndebourne
Touring Opera - have established Toby Stafford-Allen in the front rank of
young British cavalier baritones.  A charismatic and inventive stage performer,
critics have praised his masculinity and vocal elegance.
Toby Stafford-Allen trained at the Royal Northern College Music, with whom
he made his international debut singing Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte) at the Aix-
en-Provence Festival.
On leaving the RNCM, Toby Stafford-Allen joined the English National Opera
Jerwood Young Singers Program, before becoming a company principal. 
Major roles performed with the company include: Gugliemo (Cosi fan tutte),
Papageno (Die Zauberflote), Schaunard (La Boheme), Pish-Tush (The
Mikdao) and Henry (The Fairy Queen).
Further engagements in the United Kingdom include Papageno (Die
Zauberflote) with Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Belcore (L’Elisir d’amore),
Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte) and Schaunard (La Boheme) with Opera Holland
Park, A Nitro at the Opera at the Royal Opera House Linbury Studio and First
Officer (The Death of Klinghoffer) with Scottish Opera.
Toby Stafford-Allen’s international engagements include Henry (The Fairy
Queen) at the Teatro del Liceu Barcelona, Mars and Euro in Cesti’s Il Pomo
d’oro at the Batignano Festival and Schaunard (La Boheme) at the Bregenzer
Festspiele.  
Toby Stafford-Allen’s extensive concert repertoire includes Mozart Requiem,
Fauré Requiem, Haydn Creation, and Bach B minor Mass.   Toby Stafford-
Allen made his Wigmore Hall debut with a recital of German Lieder.
In season 2006/7, Toby Stafford-Allen received excellent reviews for
Giuseppe Palmieri in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Gondoliers for English
National Opera and Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) for Opera Holland Park.
In September 2007, Toby Stafford-Allen made his debut at the Hamburgische
Staatsoper as Donald (Billy Budd).  He sang  Chao-Sun (A Night at the
Chinese Opera) in a new production for Scottish Opera and Ibn-Hakir
(Iolanta) in a new production for Opera Holland Park in 2008 and will sing
Papageno for English National Opera in 2009.
Toby Stafford-Allen’s recordings include Morales in Carmen for Chandos
under David Parry, Journalist in Lulu for Chandos under Paul Daniel, First
Officer in The Dialogues of the Carmelites for Chandos under Paul Daniel,
Schaunard in La Boheme with Rolando Villazon and Ludovic Tezier under
Wolf Schirmer for ORF, La Gazza Ladra for Chandos under David Parry and
Trouble in Tahita under Paul Daniel for BBC DVD.
