Cyrano/Opera Co of Philadelphia
In the title role, the young French
baritone Marian Pop is almost too good:
Even with his distended nose, he sings
so well and commands the stage so
effortlessly, you can't see why his
beloved Roxane goes for anyone else.
But the depths of his characterization
were in non-vocal moments: He listens
and reacts with palpable eloquence
